The market for home improvement and construction products in Russia is 10.8 trillion rubles

According to estimates by experts at Lemana PRO, the volume of the Russian home improvement and construction market reached 10.8 trillion rubles in 2025, an increase of 2%. The company expects this trend to continue in the current year, with potential growth of up to 2%, driven primarily by the online segment.

The retail segment accounted for 40% of the market (4.3 trillion rubles), while the B2B and pro-segment accounted for 60% (6.5 trillion rubles). Within retail, the "Indoor Renovation" category held the largest share at 1.7 trillion rubles (39%). Amid changes in consumption patterns, the "Arrangement and Comfort" category grew rapidly to 1.4 trillion rubles (34%), whereas the "Construction and Site Management" segment declined by 5% to 1.2 trillion rubles (28%).

The online segment is gaining momentum rapidly. Offline sales decreased to 8.3 trillion rubles, while online sales grew to 2.5 trillion rubles. The share of online shoppers reached 49%: nearly every second Russian now purchases home improvement products online. This figure increased by 4% compared to 2024 and by 12% compared to 2022. Lemana PRO notes that market dynamics today are driven not so much by growth as by the transformation of consumer behavior and sales channels.

"The market is developing against the backdrop of a challenging macroeconomic situation. High interest rates, increased tax burdens, and a cooling housing market are putting pressure on demand. Despite this, the home improvement segment is demonstrating resilience. In 2026, the active transformation of the market will continue. Against the backdrop of decreasing housing affordability, the trend of 'renovation instead of moving' will strengthen. Consumers are shifting toward phased renovations, spreading expenses over time. In retail, the role of marketplaces will increase, while expertise and service will remain the key advantages of traditional players. Artificial intelligence will become a technological driver," commented Nadezhda Kolioglo, Head of Consumer Behavior Research and Market Analysis at Lemana PRO.

The state of housing construction remains an important factor for the market. According to calculations by DOM.RF, the volume of housing under construction increased to 117 million square meters (+2%) in 2025, while completions remained at a record level of 108 million square meters. Additionally, the volume of new home sales in monetary terms grew by 11%, reaching 5.2 trillion rubles. A key trend was the increase in the share of cash/self-funded transactions. DOM.RF forecasts that in 2026, the share of subsidized mortgages will decrease to 45–50%, while the share of market-rate mortgages will rise to 25–30%, and the share of cash and installment payments could reach 25–30%.

Against this backdrop, consumer behavior is becoming more rational. According to RosIndex (Ipsos Comcon), nearly half of Russians (46%) carefully plan their expenses. Demand for ready-made solutions is growing: 58% of buyers find the format of a comprehensive offering combining "material selection + installation" relevant. An additional factor is the interest in artificial intelligence technologies: an increasing number of Russians are willing to use AI to find advantageous and personalized offers.
