The neural network will compare product prices and consult shoppers. OpenAI has introduced a new feature in ChatGPT that allows users to search for, compare, and purchase products directly within the chat. This step was prompted by a sharp increase in the popularity of ChatGPT Search: just in the past week, users have submitted over a billion search queries.
The neural network creates product selections, analyzes reviews, and provides direct links to purchase them on third-party websites. According to OpenAI, the algorithm operates without advertising preferences—the company does not receive commissions from purchases. Any product-related questions can be asked directly in the chat to receive personalized recommendations from the neural network. No special instructions or prompts are needed.
The feature is already available to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Free users, and you can even test it without logging in. Currently, the update covers fashion, beauty, and home goods categories.
In the future, OpenAI plans to further improve search: the system will begin to take user preferences into account and generate even more personalized recommendations.
