Chinese national trade fairs to be held in Moscow in October

From October 30 to November 1, 2023, industry-specific international exhibitions will be held at the Expocentre in Moscow, with the personal participation of Chinese companies.

It is no longer news that China and Russia are important trading partners for one another in terms of trade volume. China has remained Russia’s primary trading partner for more than 10 years; at the same time, Russia’s position in a similar ranking has also improved compared to last year, rising from 10th to 7th place. Given the evolving economic situation and the friendly relations between China and Russia, the trend of further growth in bilateral trade between the countries will continue in the coming years. As a result, Chinese national projects are also gaining importance in the Russian market, serving as platforms for exchanging international experience, finding partners, and signing contracts.

For the past two years, due to pandemic-related restrictions, the exhibition was held in a hybrid format, with some representatives of Chinese companies participating remotely. This time, participants from China will once again travel to Moscow to personally present their products.

A variety of consumer goods at the International / China Commodity Fair

At the International / China Commodity Fair 2023, more than 250 manufacturers and suppliers from China will showcase products in the following categories:

  • Home and kitchen goods
  • Home appliances and electronics
  • Clothing and accessories
  • Products for gardening and outdoor recreation
  • Gifts, souvenirs, stationery
  • Children’s products
  • Beauty and health products
  • Food and agricultural products
  • Security systems and personal protective equipment (PPE)
In the current situation, the exhibition will serve as a platform for concluding trade deals with Chinese companies, who will personally showcase their products, help assess their quality, and offer the most favorable purchasing terms. For Russian participants, this is an opportunity to present their own products, sign new contracts with Chinese partners, and find reliable suppliers of consumer goods for subsequent sales both on marketplaces and in offline stores.

Industrial Equipment at China Machinery Fair
At the same time, alongside the consumer goods fair, the China Machinery Fair—an exhibition of industrial equipment and innovations from China—will also be held, where participants will present:

  • Packaging equipment and materials
  • Pumps, valves, and pipeline fittings
  • Machine tools and components
  • Construction machinery
  • Urban mobility solutions and electric vehicles
  • Electrical equipment
  • Construction equipment and tools

Since 2022, the reduction in imports of industrial goods and equipment has become one of the main challenges facing Russian industry, resulting in a noticeable increase in demand for industrial products from Asia and Middle Eastern countries. The China Machinery Fair will bring together more than 200 suppliers and manufacturers of industrial goods and equipment, with whom purchase agreements can be made directly—effectively helping to address this issue.

Business Program and Consulting Support

In addition to the display area, visitors will find a business program featuring experts, representatives of industry associations, businesses, and government agencies. During sessions and round tables, forum participants will discuss challenges and the next steps in the development of economic, trade, and industrial cooperation between Russia and China.

Moreover, taking into account market needs, a significant part of the program—for the third year in a row—will focus on e-commerce, particularly on working with marketplaces, which are currently recognized as the most important channel for distribution and direct sales.
Thus, the trade fairs combine opportunities both for finding trade partners and for obtaining the most up-to-date market information and practical knowledge in sales and promotion.

The trade fairs also feature a Unified Consulting Center—a special area where participants help with various aspects of cooperation with foreign partners: from signing contracts to project or product implementation, including supplier search and verification, foreign trade financing, logistics, customs clearance, sales, and marketing.

New horizons: cooperation with RSPP

In 2023, the trade fair will be held with the official support of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), which brings together representatives of industrial, scientific, financial, and commercial organizations across Russia.

This format of interaction is aimed at raising the status of the event itself and attracting more Russian and Chinese exhibitors, as well as visitors. In the future, cooperation in trade fair activities will foster the development of closer and long-term business relations between RSPP member organizations and Chinese partners.
