People are more likely to buy online if they like the product image

Yandex analyzed how consumer behavior is changing: more and more people are searching for products by images, not just text.

Image search statistics:

  • 56% of online shoppers make spontaneous purchases after seeing an attractive product image.
  • 69% have their own "visual trigger"—they are most often drawn to color, shape, style, or a logo.

Buyers expect specifics:

  • 65% want to know where they can buy the product
  • 54% are looking for detailed characteristics (size, material, etc.)
  • 51% are interested in promotions and discounts
  • 46% want to see a selection of similar products

About half of users have tried searching for a product by image or photo at least once, and 23% do this several times a week.

The study surveyed 1,500 people aged 16 to 64 from cities with a population of over 100,000.
