About export, product trends, and business networking

The trade turnover between Russia and China has increased by 25% since the beginning of the year, according to the Telegram channel of the Federal Customs Service of Russia (FCS).

At the same time, as noted by participating companies of the upcoming International / China Commodity Fair 2023, there has been a sense of enthusiasm among Russian businesses, since last year, for manufacturing home appliances in cooperation with China. The demand for electronics and consumer goods from Chinese brands has remained consistently strong among Russian buyers for several years.

The positive dynamics and prospects for trade relations between Russia and China, under the current geopolitical and economic conditions, will become the main topic of meetings between manufacturers, distributors, representatives of government agencies, and trade associations from Russia, Asia, and the CIS at the International / China Commodity Fair. This major consumer goods exhibition will be held at the Expocentre in Moscow from October 30 to November 1 this year.
Building new partnerships

Issues of Russia’s integration into global logistics processes, development forecasts for the consumer market in conditions of rising fuel prices and inflation, as well as government support measures aimed at boosting the competitiveness of Russian enterprises—these are among the key topics that exhibitors and visitors will address at the trade fair, which has established itself over the years as an effective platform for international business networking. The event also offers opportunities for meetings with existing business contacts and for finding new suppliers among specialized distributors and manufacturers.

More than 200 Chinese brands, including technology companies and manufacturers of home appliances and consumer electronics, have already confirmed their participation in the new season of the fair. The exhibition will also feature products for the home, tableware, household goods, interior items and décor, gift and souvenir products (including New Year’s items), as well as goods for children.

Participants will showcase their best product lines, the latest innovations, and premieres. According to analysts, the withdrawal of leading European brands from the Russian market has inspired many players to increase home appliance manufacturing, particularly in collaboration with China.
At the same time, demand remains strong for home appliances from well-known Chinese brands such as Haier, Huawei, Xiaomi, and others. As in previous years, this season’s exhibition will delight visitors with displays of the latest robot vacuum models, as well as Dyson-style hair dryer alternatives showcased by Dreame Technologies. There will also be an exhibit of vividly designed home appliances from Cixi Gstar Electric Appliance.

Product trends from China

Just as consumers have gotten used to robot vacuums, a new device has appeared on the horizon: the window-cleaning robot—an innovative gadget from Bomidi that can help not only homemakers, but in the future, might even replace abseilers cleaning skyscraper windows. Interestingly, whereas the device is quite common in China, it is not yet widespread in Russia. However, the wide presentation at the exhibition may help Russian consumers appreciate its potential.

Most of the displays will feature household items such as tableware and kitchen accessories, as well as gifts—including high-quality Chinese porcelain from Jiangsu Gaochun Ceramic. The beauty and health section will showcase a wide array of electronic products and many self-care devices, such as facial, hand, back, and foot massagers, as well as oral irrigators from Jinhua Keyue Electronic Commerce.
A significant part of the exhibition is dedicated to home textiles and sleep accessories, including blankets, orthopedic pillows, bedding, and much more—featuring products from Chinese manufacturer Ningbo Kingworth Globalimp.

The main products in the household chemicals category are cleaning agents and laundry detergents, as well as various types of soap, including hygiene cosmetics from high-tech Chinese company Hebei Baiyun Daily Chemical.

The venue will also feature service and logistics companies ready to support businesses in product promotion and working with China. As Liu Xuesun, Minister of Economy and Commerce at the Embassy of China in the Russian Federation, highlighted in his comments on the previous fair: «China has been Russia’s main trading partner for 12 consecutive years. Despite the volatility of the pandemic and other challenges faced by our countries, Russian-Chinese trade relations continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience and endogenous momentum, moving against the tide.»
