All electronics in Russia will be subject to mandatory digital labeling from 2027 onwards
Russia has approved timelines for the introduction of mandatory digital labeling for all radio-electronic products—from smartphones to power sockets. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. Registration for participants in the system will begin on March 1, 2026, and full-scale trade in labeled goods is to be established by March 1, 2027.
According to the rules, a unique barcode must be applied to the product or its packaging and remain readable throughout the entire lifecycle of the item. All market participants—manufacturers, importers, distributors, and retailers—are required to register in the unified state monitoring system (GIS).
The system operator, the Center for Research in Perspective Technologies (CRPT), plans to sell the codes at a price of 50 kopecks per unit starting May 1, 2026. The CRPT assures that the new measure will have virtually no impact on prices for consumers.
