Chinese Companies Increase Presence in Russian Online Retail

The Russian online trading market is experiencing an unprecedented integration of Chinese businesses. According to a study by T-Business (a T-Data project), based on information from the Federal Tax Service and anonymized customer data from the service, 2025 was a record year for the number of registrations of companies from China.

Key Figures and Trends:

According to the analytics, today every fifth limited liability company (LLC) in the Russian online trading sector is opened with the participation of Chinese entrepreneurs. The total number of such companies grew by 2.4 times last year. Every month, Chinese citizens register more than 400 new businesses (including individual entrepreneurs and LLCs) in Russia, which is 25% higher than the figures for 2024.

Where Does Chinese Business Feel Most Confident?

E-commerce remains the undisputed leader, accounting for more than half (50.88%) of all registrations. It is followed by wholesale (19.03%) and retail trade (9.24%). Interestingly, in 2025, analysts recorded a new trend: the growth rate of Chinese businesses in offline retail outpaced e-commerce indicators for the first time.

In the offline sector, entrepreneurs from China most often open non-chain stores, food outlets, and are also actively developing the areas of consumer electronics, furniture, and lighting fixtures. The automotive manufacturing and repair sector also entered the top five most popular industries (2.96% and 3.43%, respectively).
