Direct meetings with Chinese suppliers and expert sessions on entering marketplaces: getting ready for the ICF 2022 trade fair

From October 24–26, 2022, the International Commodity Fair 2022 trade fair will take place at Expocentre—a major import-export project aimed at developing business contacts and trade between Russia, the CIS, and China. Friendly relations between Russia and China amid changing realities provide an opportunity to fill the niches that have opened up in the Russian market.

In addition, under the current circumstances, the trade fair will serve as a universal platform for finding trading partners from China and Russian regions, obtaining up-to-date market information, and facilitating subsequent sales on marketplaces.

Online events ahead of the trade fair
In the lead-up to the trade fair, the organizers have prepared two online events where Russian importers and exporters can connect with partners from China.

From August 17 to 19, there will be a series of online meetings for exporters of food products and home goods from Russia to China, providing an opportunity to negotiate with potential Chinese buyers.

After that, there will be an online meeting for Russian buyers with leading Chinese manufacturers of winter outerwear, featuring online collection showcases, discussion of trends and high-demand products, and partnership negotiations. Participation in both events is free of charge.

2022 trade fair exhibit

The International Commodity Fair 2022 will bring together 200 participating companies from China, Russia, and other countries, presenting consumer goods in various categories: home and garden products; home appliances and electronics; clothing and accessories; children’s products.

The event is aimed at developing both import and export opportunities and includes the following sections:

  • An exhibition of domestic and international suppliers of consumer goods, which features a Russian Export Platform zone for Russian regions and companies focused on export.
  • The 6th National Chinese Exhibition of Quality Consumer Goods from China (China Commodity Fair), where you can personally arrange for direct product purchases.
  • A Unified Consulting Center with specialists in logistics, customs clearance, foreign economic activity, and e-commerce.

Figures and facts
In 2021, the trade fair venue showcased top solutions from 150 participants, more than 100 of which were companies from China, with the remaining from various regions of Russia. Over 5,000 people visited the trade fair, finding solutions for their businesses.

Russian regions have a lot to offer both the domestic and international markets. The International Commodity Fair is a place where you can present your products to thousands of potential buyers. Last year, manufacturers and suppliers from several Russian regions—including Krasnodar Krai, the Komi Republic, Moscow, and others—took part, presenting home goods, household appliances, board games, foods, and beverages.
Last year, visitors also enjoyed the display of products from China. Among the key exhibitors at China Commodity Fair 2021 were Zhejiang Newcomer Bags, a suitcase manufacturer exporting to more than 30 countries and regions; Yiwu Yanrui Arts & Crafts, a toy manufacturer who partners with well-known brands including Barbie and Disney; and Qingdao Riameihua Garmen, a clothing manufacturer whose goods are actively sold in the USA and Japan.

In 2022, the exhibition will expand by including more participating provinces from China. This time, companies from five provinces—Zhejiang, Shandong, Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Changqing—will take part.

Business Program
The business forum held as part of the trade fair is a program of events featuring representatives of industry associations and major trading companies, including those in the e-commerce sector.

Last year, speakers included representatives from companies such as Midea, Honor, ZTE, AliExpress Russia, GFK, TYK “Moscow,” UPMARKET, and RIVACASE.

This year, the program will focus on the nuances of working with marketplaces, which are becoming an essential distribution channel for all types of business, including B2B promotion.

During the event, experts will discuss the specifics of leading trading platforms and share useful tips on how to enter these markets and increase sales. The conference will feature representatives of marketplaces, seller companies, as well as fulfillment service providers, to give participants a more complete picture.
