Russian e-commerce market grows by 28%, reaching a record rub 11.5 trillion

The Russian e-commerce market continued its strong growth in 2025. According to the Association of Internet Trade Companies (AKIT), online retail sales increased by 28% year-on-year, reaching a record RUB 11.5 trillion.

The main driver of this growth was the rapid expansion of e-commerce across Russia's regions. Major marketplaces continue to invest in logistics infrastructure and expand into smaller and remote cities, making online shopping more accessible to consumers throughout the country.

Today, 96.2% of Russia's e-commerce market is generated by domestic sales, while cross-border purchases account for only 3.8%. At the same time, the share of online sales in the country's total retail turnover increased from 16.2% to 18.8% over the past year.

Food remains the largest online retail category, driven by the continued growth of express delivery services and changing consumer habits. Meanwhile, several product categories—including construction materials, furniture, luxury goods, jewelry, and products that require in-person consultation—continue to be dominated by offline retail.

The rapid growth of e-commerce is creating new opportunities for manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and online sellers. As competition increases, finding reliable suppliers and high-demand products has become one of the key priorities for businesses.
