Russians are more likely to refresh their interiors in autumn: demand for bright decor is growing

Autumn is becoming an opportunity for Russians not only to update their wardrobes but also to refresh their living spaces. According to a survey by Lenta Group, 44% of Russians consider changing their interiors during the autumn season. At the same time, color is receiving more attention: bright accents, statement tableware, and textiles are becoming increasingly prominent elements of home decor.

Bright accents instead of neutral interiors

According to the study, 63% of respondents use color accents in their interiors. However, approaches to decorating vary.

For example, 24% of respondents prefer adding one or two statement pieces against a calm color palette. Another 23% occasionally use unusual items to diversify their familiar surroundings, while 16% actively incorporate saturated colors to create a particular mood.

Russians also vary in how often they update their interiors. 12% make small changes every season, 17% pay attention to new autumn collections in stores, and 15% purchase new items when it is time to replace their existing ones.

Demand for colorful tableware is growing

Interest in bold interior solutions is also reflected in sales. From January through August 2026, compared with the same period last year, demand for plates in saturated colors and with expressive prints increased by 15%.

Sales of mugs, cups, and saucers grew by 18%, while sales of glasses and stemware increased by 12%. Demand for serving dishes, salad bowls, and bowls rose by 9%, while demand for divided serving trays and serving boards increased by 7%.

Lenta attributes this trend to the growing popularity of so-called dopamine decor — bright items that add color and emotional appeal to an interior without requiring a major renovation.

Bright decor extends beyond the kitchen

The trend is not limited to tableware. Interest in decorative items and home textiles has grown particularly noticeably.

During the period under review, sales of unusually designed vases increased approximately 2.5 times, while sales of candles and candle holders nearly doubled. Brightly colored and patterned throws were purchased 3.4 times more often.

Demand is also growing for colorful kitchen textiles: sales of towels, tablecloths, runners, and napkins increased by approximately 1.2 times.

Overall, interior updates are increasingly being driven by small but noticeable details. Instead of completely changing their surroundings, Russians are adding colorful items, unusual shapes, and textiles to their homes, allowing them to quickly change the atmosphere without significant expense or renovation.
